Abstract:
Klebsiella pneumoniae is a Gram-negative pathogen that is one of the leading causes of nosocomial infections. The control of infections caused by K. pneumoniae becomes difficult due to its higher resistance to antibiotics. The increased resistance of many pathogens, including K. pneumoniae, to traditionally used antibiotics has become a serious health concern. Therefore, bacteriophages have regained increasing attention as an alternative to antibiotics. Therapeutic approaches typically use individual phages or cocktail of phages to specifically infect and kill target bacteria. This study aims to isolate and characterize bacteriophages that target K. pneumoniae isolated from different clinical sources.
