Abstract:
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the most common chronic autoimmune diseases with unknown aetiology affecting about 1–1.5% of the population worldwide. One of the RA-associated non-HLA genes is SLC22A4 gene that transport antioxidant ergothioneine. Our aim was to determine the association of SLC22A4 polymorphism with the severity of rheumatoid arthritis in Zagazig University Hospitals. We found that there was no stastical significant difference among studied groups.
