Effectiveness of behavioral program in reducing bullying among primary school students

Abstract:
Bullying is a major public health concern affecting the lives of many children and adolescents. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of behavioral program in reducing bullying among primary school students. Subjects and methods:aquasi-experimental pretest and posttest design was utilized with sample of 60 of bullied students who had high bullying levels from fifth and sixth grade selected from four governmental primary school in Zagazig city. The data collecting toolsan interview questionnaire composed of two parts: Socio- demographic data and bullying scale among primary school students. Results, All bullied students (100%) were male, the age ranged between 10 and 12 years, with mean 10.78 ±.69 years, and 88.3 % of them were from rural area. Regarding rank of child 65% of them second or third or others birth order. In additional 71.7% of bullied students living with both parents, and social class more than half of them (56.7%) belonged to moderate social class.There was a highly statistically significant improvement were found before and after the behavioral program regarding total mean score of bullying domains. Conclusion, the behavioral program success in reducing bullying among primary school students. Therefore, it is recommended to implement the developed program on a wider scale in the study setting and similar one to confirm its positive effects and to reach more generalizable findings.
