Family caregivers play a main role in providing care and assistance to mentally ill individuals and their families. The influence of stressors on family members caring for an ill individual in the family has been mentioned as caregiver’s burden. Chronic illnesses place a major burden on family caregivers who take the sole responsibility of caring for chronically ill patients. Family caregivers of patients with a severe mental illness complain of psychological stresses, and such stresses affect the psychological well-being of relatives; they have moderately high levels of burden, and frequently have insufficient support from mental health professionals
