Abstract:
This study consisted of 28patients(51)ears with COME not responding to medical treatment with the age ranging between 2.6-9.4 years mean age (5.7y). At the pre-operative examination, the tympanogram was pathologic (type B) in all cases Group 1: They were 9 patients (16 ears). With OME performed classical myringotomy with insertion of pressure equalizing tubes (PETS) ± adenoidectomy Group 2: They were 9 patients (15 ears) with OME performed Co2 laser tympanic membrane fenestration LTM ± adenoidectomy Group3: They were 10 patients (20ears) with OME performed Diode laser assisted tympanostomy ± adenoidectomy. In all groups the operations were performed while the child being under general anesthesia. <The length of time of Co2 laser myringotomy remained open was analyzed, and it was 7-32 days (Median 19.5)The mean closure time of diode LTMF was 3-4 months (median± SD; 3.5 months ± 1.4).In the first group, 9 patients (16 ears) treated with classical myringotomy with insertion of tympanostomy tube and adenoidectomy achieve cure 6 ears (37.5%) Compared with the second group (Co2 LTMF) 11ears (73.33%) were cured from 9 patients (15ears). While the third group treated with (Diode LTMF) achieve cure 18 ears (90%) from 10 patient (20) ears (Evidenced as normal otomicroscopic examination of the drum,
